Privacy policy

The short version

We collect the minimum needed to run this website and respond when you contact us. We don't sell your data. We don't run advertising on this site. We don't send marketing email to people who haven't asked for it.

What we collect automatically

Like most websites, our server records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and when you view them. We use this to understand which pages get read and to keep the site working. We also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies and reports aggregate usage to us. Google's handling of that data is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

You can block analytics cookies in your browser without breaking anything on this site.

What you give us directly

If you use the contact form, we keep what you send: your name, contact details and your message. We use it to reply and, if a conversation starts, to continue it.

If you apply to work with us through the hiring page, we keep your application and anything you attach to it. We use it to evaluate your application, nothing else.

What we don't do

We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. We don't share it with third parties except the service providers that run this site's infrastructure, analytics and email, and then only what they need to provide the service. We don't use your data to build advertising profiles.

One thing worth stating plainly: Pinstorm will never ask you for money, deposits or fees as part of a job application. If someone claiming to be Pinstorm does, it isn't us.

How long we keep things

Contact messages and applications are kept as long as they're useful for the conversation they started, then deleted in periodic clean-ups. Server logs and analytics data age out on the schedules of the systems that hold them.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us through the contact page and we'll deal with it. If you're in a jurisdiction that gives you formal rights over your data (the GDPR in Europe, for instance), those rights apply and we'll honour them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll change the date at the top. We won't quietly expand what we collect.
